Balancing work and study effectively & Lessons learned as an online mature student

Balancing life whilst studying can be a challenge, as a mature student with family and work commitments, I knew if I wanted to achieve my goals, it would have to be a flexible learning plan that I could mould around my day-to-day life. The part-time online interior design course with Falmouth University offered me this, and as I've previously visited Falmouth, I knew the learning and resources were of the highest calibre.

As a part-time student, it's recommended that, although you can work, it must be part-time & of no more than 25 hrs a week, as there's so much content; you wouldn't fit it all in. It's recommended that you study for around 35 hrs per week. I have found this fluctuates, and some weeks it's enough; other weeks, I have worked late into the evening and exceeded this average.

If you're entering this course with previous design knowledge, have come straight out of school or college, or already have skills in AutoCAD, Photoshop, SketchUp, or InDesign, you're well ahead and may save time in these areas. I came in with little to no knowledge and from a fine arts and textiles background.

I found the first module a really good learning curve with just the right amount of work; however, the second was definitely more labour-intensive, and I really needed to have self-discipline and an impeccable timetable. You can see all ive achieved so far by visiting my learning journey page.
